Hanoi and northern Vietnam
Central Hanoi, airports, transport hubs and populated neighborhoods usually offer stronger mobile availability. Coverage can weaken inside thick-walled buildings or underground spaces. On routes toward Ninh Binh, Sapa or Ha Giang, download tickets, accommodation details and offline maps before leaving major towns.
Ha Long coverage is different onshore and offshore. A phone may work near the city or port but lose signal as a boat travels between limestone islands. Do not rely on mobile data as the only source of safety or booking information during cruises.
Central Vietnam and the coast

5G, 4G and actual speed
5G may appear in supported areas when the phone, frequency bands, local network and eSIM provisioning all support it. Otherwise, the phone can use 4G/LTE. A 5G icon is not a guarantee of a specific speed. Congestion, buildings, weather, terrain and the current fair-use state can all affect performance.

What to do when the signal disappears
- Move outdoors or away from basement and interior rooms.
- Turn Airplane Mode on for 15–30 seconds, then off.
- Restart the phone and wait several minutes.
- Confirm the Vietnam eSIM is selected for mobile data and Data Roaming is on.
- For a roaming plan, try a supported network manually if automatic selection fails.
Do not delete the eSIM during troubleshooting. A QR code may be single-use.
