Can You Use a Travel eSIM on an iPad or Tablet?

How to use a travel eSIM on a compatible iPad or tablet

Some cellular iPads and Android tablets support eSIM and can use a data-only travel plan. A Wi-Fi-only tablet cannot use cellular eSIM service.

Check the exact device model

  • Confirm that the tablet is a cellular model, not Wi-Fi only.
  • Check the manufacturer’s specifications for eSIM support in the device’s country or region.
  • Make sure the tablet is carrier-unlocked.
  • Confirm that it supports the network bands used at the destination.

A model name alone may not be enough because cellular features can vary by market and model number.

Install on a compatible iPad

  1. Connect the iPad to stable Wi-Fi.
  2. Open Settings > Cellular Data.
  3. Choose Add eSIM or the available plan-setup option.
  4. Scan the QR code or use the activation method in the delivery email.
  5. Select the EasyTripGo plan for cellular data and enable roaming if required.

Install on a compatible Android tablet

Open Settings and look for Connections, SIM manager, Network & internet or Add eSIM. Menu names differ by brand. If the option is absent, verify the exact model specifications before scanning the QR code elsewhere.

Install directly on the device you will use

Many QR codes are intended for one installation. Do not first install the plan on a phone if you intend to use it on the tablet. Travel eSIMs generally cannot be transferred freely between devices.

Calls and SMS

Most EasyTripGo plans are data-only. Even if the tablet supports eSIM, the plan does not provide regular carrier calls or SMS unless the product explicitly says so.
