A website or app may show a different country while your travel eSIM is working normally. This usually happens because the service estimates your location from your IP address rather than your phone’s GPS.
Why the IP location can be different
Travel eSIM traffic can be routed through a regional or international network gateway. IP-location databases may associate that gateway with another country, and different databases can return different results. An IP result alone does not prove that the phone is physically in that country.
Check for a VPN or proxy
- Temporarily turn off VPN, proxy, iCloud Private Relay or similar privacy-routing services.
- If you use Android Private DNS, return it to Automatic temporarily.
- Close and reopen the affected app or browser.
- Test again in a private or incognito browser window.
See how VPN and Private DNS can affect an eSIM connection.
Let the app use your real device location
For maps, transport and delivery apps, enable location permission and GPS. Some apps also use the account country, app-store region, language or a manually selected market. Check those settings inside the app.
Can EasyTripGo change the displayed IP country?
The IP route is assigned by the network provider and can change. EasyTripGo cannot guarantee a specific local IP address unless the product explicitly states one. If a service requires a particular country, contact that service to confirm its access rules.
If only one website is affected
If normal websites load but one service shows the wrong region, the eSIM connection itself is probably working. Clear that app’s cache or website cookies, sign in again and check its regional settings. For related checks, read why only some apps work on an eSIM.
