How to Install a Sri Lanka eSIM and Use Hotspot

Unbranded laptop and smartphone in a Sri Lanka-inspired guesthouse

Set up the EasyTripGo Sri Lanka eSIM using reliable internet on a compatible, carrier-unlocked phone. Installation starts your plan duration, so choose the timing deliberately. You can install before departure, but those hours or days count toward the selected validity.

Before adding the profile

Confirm eSIM support for your exact phone model and check that it is not locked to a carrier. Keep the order email and installation instructions accessible on another screen or through a supported device installation method.

Install within 90 days of purchase. That is the installation window, not 90 days of travel data. Your selected duration begins when you install and continues during flights, offline periods and time outside coverage.

Install and select the data line

  1. Open your phone's mobile-network settings and choose to add an eSIM.
  2. Use the QR code or installation method supplied with your order.
  3. Give the profile a clear label, such as “Sri Lanka travel.”
  4. When ready to use it in Sri Lanka, select it for mobile data.
  5. Follow the supplied roaming and network settings.

Menu names vary by phone. Do not guess an APN from a guide for a different plan. Check your home subscription's settings separately so that automatic data switching or other home-line services do not cause unintended charges.

Test at a location with coverage

Briefly turn Wi-Fi off and open a simple page to check mobile data. The listed network is SLT-Mobitel, with 5G where available and 4G/LTE support. Actual reception may be different in a city, hotel room or remote area.

If data does not work, check that the profile is enabled, selected for data and configured according to the supplied instructions. Check remaining validity and any fixed-data balance. Do not delete the profile as your first troubleshooting step.

Share data by hotspot

After the phone's mobile connection works, enable its hotspot or tethering feature, set a password and connect the other device. Hotspot is supported, but all connected devices share the selected allowance. A laptop does not receive a separate daily balance.

Daily plans offer 500MB, 1GB or 2GB high-speed data. Once the chosen daily threshold is reached, speed is limited to up to 128kbps until the daily reset. Sharing that restricted connection will not restore high speed. Avoid relying on it for work calls, streaming or large downloads.

Pause laptop updates, cloud backups and photo synchronization if you want to preserve your allowance. Fixed-data options use one total balance rather than a daily refresh; do not assume the daily-plan restriction applies to them.

Messaging and support

This is data only, without a number, traditional calls or SMS. Internet messaging apps can use available data, but verification requiring a phone number must be handled separately. Save essential contacts and booking details offline before travel.

For help, contact EasyTripGo support on WhatsApp at +62 81190057586 using an available connection. Share the order reference and symptoms privately; never post your QR code publicly. Contact support before removing the installed eSIM.
