Seeing an “R” or roaming indicator while using a travel eSIM is usually normal. Travel eSIMs often connect to local partner networks, so the phone classifies the connection as roaming even though you are using your prepaid EasyTripGo data plan.
Use the correct roaming settings
- Set EasyTripGo as the mobile-data SIM.
- Open the EasyTripGo eSIM settings.
- Turn Data Roaming on for the EasyTripGo line.
- Turn data roaming off for your home or primary SIM.
- Disable automatic mobile-data switching to the primary SIM.
See our device-specific guide to enable data roaming for an eSIM.
Will the roaming symbol create extra EasyTripGo charges?
The roaming symbol alone does not add a separate EasyTripGo fee. Your EasyTripGo plan is prepaid. However, your home carrier can charge separately if your primary SIM uses calls, texts or mobile data abroad. Review how to avoid roaming charges on your primary SIM.
If there is still no internet
- Confirm that mobile data is assigned to EasyTripGo.
- Turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds, then off.
- Restart the phone.
- Check the APN and network-selection instructions supplied for your plan.
Do not turn roaming on for every line. Enable it only where required, and keep your home line’s data roaming disabled unless you intentionally want to use your home carrier abroad.
