How to Avoid Roaming Charges on Your Primary SIM

How to avoid roaming charges on a primary SIM

You can keep your primary line available for calls or verification texts while using EasyTripGo for mobile data. The key is to prevent the home SIM from using cellular data abroad.

Recommended setup

  1. Open your phone's Cellular, SIM Manager, Network & internet, or Mobile Networks settings.
  2. Select the EasyTripGo eSIM as the default Mobile Data or Data SIM.
  3. Enable data roaming on the EasyTripGo eSIM if required.
  4. Disable data roaming on your primary SIM.
  5. Turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching, Switch mobile data automatically, or a similarly named option.

For device-specific paths, see How to Select Your eSIM for Mobile Data and How to Enable Data Roaming for an eSIM.

Calls and texts are separate from mobile data

Turning off data roaming does not necessarily block paid incoming calls, outgoing calls, voicemail, or text charges on the primary line. Pricing depends on your home carrier. Check its international-roaming terms or disable the primary line completely if you do not need it.

Before using hotspot

Confirm again that EasyTripGo is the selected data line. Hotspot traffic uses whichever SIM supplies mobile data, so automatic data switching should remain off.

Quick check after arrival

Turn Wi-Fi off and open your mobile-network settings. The data indicator should appear next to the EasyTripGo line. If the primary SIM is shown as the data source, change the selection before browsing.

If you are unsure which line is active, send a screenshot of the SIM settings to official@easytripgo.com or WhatsApp +62 81190057586.
