How to Remove an eSIM Before Selling or Trading In Your Phone

How to remove an eSIM before selling or trading in a phone

A phone being sold, given away or traded in should not retain your eSIM profiles or personal accounts. The important part is timing: finish anything you need on the old phone before erasing it.

Prepare the replacement phone first

Back up your data and set up the new device. If an EasyTripGo plan is still active, do not assume it can be transferred automatically. Check our travel eSIM transfer guide before removing anything.

Confirm that essential service is available

Make sure your primary number, account recovery methods and any required travel connection work on the device you will keep. Save the EasyTripGo order email and ICCID in case support needs to identify the old installation.

Sign out and disable device locks

Follow the phone manufacturer's official selling or trade-in checklist. Sign out of personal accounts, remove payment cards and disable activation locks or device-finding protection when instructed.

Erase the phone and its eSIM profiles

When you are certain the old device is no longer needed, choose the manufacturer's option to erase both personal data and eSIM profiles. This is different from normal troubleshooting, where deletion should be avoided. Read why eSIM deletion is usually irreversible and how to manage a profile after a trip.
