When fixed data may fit better
Consider fixed data if you mainly need pickup messages, occasional maps, email and light browsing, and can leave large uploads for suitable Wi-Fi. A total allowance also gives you flexibility to use more on one connected day and less on another, within the remaining balance and validity.
For example, a 7-day 10GB package provides a 10GB total allowance. It does not mean 10GB every day. Estimate your own usage from your phone's recent data statistics rather than relying on a universal “GB per traveler” rule.
What Unlimited actually includes
The daily high-speed allowance is 1GB. After that, access continues at up to 5Mbps until the daily allowance resets. This is a maximum after the fair usage threshold, not a guaranteed speed. The exact reset time is not specified here; do not assume it is midnight in your home time zone or that unused daily data rolls over.
Unlimited can suit someone who values continued data access, but it cannot create a signal on an uncovered boat route. If most of your daytime is spent offshore, buying a more expensive plan does not solve that coverage constraint.
