Set up your Laos eSIM with two separate tasks in mind: installing the profile and choosing it for mobile data. The most important timing rule is simple: the plan's validity starts at installation. Waiting to turn on mobile data later does not postpone that start.
Before installing
- Check that your exact phone model supports eSIM and is not locked to another carrier.
- Keep your order email and setup instructions accessible.
- Use a reliable internet connection to download the profile.
- Choose an installation time that leaves enough validity for the end of your Laos trip.
The EasyTripGo Laos eSIM must be installed within 90 days of purchase. You can install before departure, but those hours or days count toward the selected plan duration. Purchasing in advance and installing in advance are therefore different decisions.
Install and select your data line
Open your phone's mobile-network settings and use its add-eSIM option, following the instructions delivered with your order. Menu names differ by phone and software version. Use the provided installation method rather than guessing APN values or other network settings.
Give the line a recognisable label such as Laos Travel. When you need service in Laos, select it as your mobile-data line and apply any roaming settings specified in the supplied instructions. Check that the phone is not automatically using your home line for mobile data.
Keep your home SIM settings separate. Leaving a home line active can be useful for existing accounts, but any calls, messages or roaming on that line remain subject to your home carrier's terms and charges. The travel eSIM does not remove those charges automatically.
Test before leaving your accommodation
Once connected in Laos, load a small web page or send a message. Save the next destination's address and meeting point while reception is available. Lao Telecom and ETL Laos are the listed networks, but service at an individual location depends on actual network availability and conditions.
If data does not work, first confirm the selected data line, remaining validity and the settings in your instructions. Try a better-covered location where practical. Contact support with your order details and relevant settings if the problem continues. Do not delete the eSIM as your first response.
Use hotspot without losing track of data
Hotspot and tethering are supported. After mobile data is working, enable your phone's hotspot, set a strong password and connect your other device. That device shares the same plan allowance: hotspot does not create a separate high-speed quota.
For daily Unlimited, the allowance is 1GB of high-speed data per day, followed by unlimited data at up to 5Mbps. It resets daily, but no specific reset hour is stated here. A laptop backup or update can use much of that allowance. Limit automatic downloads and disconnect devices you are not using.
For a fixed-data plan, monitor total usage across the phone and connected devices. Save large media transfers for a suitable Wi-Fi connection if you want to preserve mobile data for transport days and navigation.
Calls, messages and remote work
This plan is data only: no telephone number, traditional calls or SMS. Existing messaging apps can use the internet connection, but new SMS verification requires another suitable number. Hotspot support also does not guarantee uninterrupted work calls, especially while moving between towns or through mountainous areas.
