What daily Unlimited actually means
You receive 1GB of high-speed data each day. After using it, data continues at up to 5Mbps for the remainder of that daily allowance period. The high-speed allowance resets daily. Do not interpret this as an all-day guaranteed 5Mbps connection: local reception, congestion and your device can reduce actual speeds further. The exact daily reset time is not specified here.
With fixed data, the selected number of gigabytes is the total allowance for the selected validity. There is no stated daily high-speed allocation. This can be useful if one travel day involves more use than another. Do not assume a fixed plan includes the Unlimited plan's reduced-speed continuation.
Three practical selection scenarios
Seven days with light mobile use: If you mainly need navigation, messages and occasional booking checks, compare a fixed allowance first. Download maps and keep automatic photo backups on Wi-Fi. A 10GB total plan costs less than daily Unlimited in the example above, but whether it is enough depends on your own use.
Ten days with uneven demand: A traveller moving between towns may use little data on a quiet day and considerably more while uploading photos later. Compare 10GB and 20GB total allowances if flexible use matters more than reduced-speed continuation. Avoid assuming that an average daily calculation is a guaranteed usage budget.
Fifteen days with frequent access: Daily Unlimited can be useful when you want data to continue after the high-speed quota is used. For large uploads or sustained laptop work, however, the daily 1GB threshold matters. More expensive does not automatically mean more high-speed data for your particular routine.
Include your hotspot in the calculation
A laptop or second phone uses the same allowance. Software updates, cloud sync and video can consume data without much visible activity. Set connected devices to limit background downloads and check usage on the phone. Two people sharing one hotspot also depend on staying close to that phone.
Choose the installation day carefully
Install within 90 days of purchase. The selected duration begins at installation, including if you install before departure. Match the plan to that start time, not only your landing date. An early installation can leave fewer usable days at the end of the trip.
All these plans are data only, with no telephone number or traditional calls and SMS. Hotspot is supported. Lao Telecom and ETL Laos are listed networks, but neither a larger allowance nor Unlimited guarantees coverage at a particular hotel, railway section or rural destination.
