eSIM QR Code Not Working? Causes and Solutions

Steps to troubleshoot an eSIM QR code that is not working

If an eSIM QR code does not scan or installation stops with an error, first determine whether the eSIM is already installed. Repeated scanning will not help if the profile already appears in your SIM settings.

1. Check whether the eSIM is already installed

Open Cellular, SIM Manager or Mobile Networks and look for a new line labelled EasyTripGo, Travel, Secondary or SIM 2. If it is present, do not scan the QR code again. Switch the line on and continue with the connection settings.

2. Use a stable internet connection

Downloading an eSIM requires internet access. Connect the phone to reliable Wi-Fi, disable any VPN temporarily, and try the installation again.

3. Confirm compatibility and carrier-unlocked status

The phone must support eSIM and must not be locked to another carrier. On iPhone, check Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock. It should show No SIM Restrictions.

4. Scan the code correctly

Display the QR code on another phone, tablet or computer. On the phone receiving the eSIM, open Add eSIM and scan the code from there. Do not scan it with a general QR app unless your phone specifically supports that process.

5. Try manual installation

If scanning fails, use the SM-DP+ Address and activation code included in the delivery email. Choose Enter Details Manually in the Add eSIM screen.

Protect your eSIM: Never publish or forward the QR code or activation code to anyone except EasyTripGo Support.
