eSIM Hotspot Not Working? How to Fix Tethering

Troubleshooting an eSIM hotspot that is not working

A hotspot shares your phone's mobile-data connection with another device. Troubleshoot the eSIM connection first; then check hotspot settings.

1. Confirm mobile data works on the phone

Turn Wi-Fi off on the phone and open a website. If the phone itself has no internet, start with eSIM Installed but No Internet?. A hotspot cannot share a connection that is not working.

2. Select the EasyTripGo eSIM for data

Open mobile-network settings and confirm that the travel eSIM—not your primary line—is the selected data SIM. Enable data roaming on the travel eSIM where required.

3. Confirm plan support

Hotspot or tethering availability depends on the purchased plan and local network. Check the product page and delivery instructions. A phone can show a hotspot switch even when the plan or partner network does not permit tethering.

4. Check APN and hotspot settings

  • Use the APN exactly as shown in the delivery email.
  • Do not copy an APN from your primary carrier.
  • If your phone has a separate Personal Hotspot or tethering APN field, use the supplied APN only when the instructions require it.
  • Set a new hotspot password and reconnect the other device.

See How to Check APN Settings for device paths.

5. Restart both devices

Turn hotspot off, restart the phone and the receiving device, then enable hotspot again. If possible, test with a second device to determine whether the problem is the hotspot or the receiving device.
