A phone can support eSIM technology and still be locked to its original mobile carrier. A carrier-locked device may reject a travel eSIM or show an unsupported-plan message. Check both compatibility and lock status before installation.
Check an iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Scroll to Carrier Lock.
If you see No SIM Restrictions, the iPhone is unlocked. If another status appears, contact the carrier that sold or financed the phone.
Check an Android phone
Android wording varies by manufacturer, country, and carrier. There is no single status screen that works for every model. Use these checks:
- Confirm that Add eSIM, Add mobile plan, or Download a SIM instead? appears in network settings.
- Check the original carrier's account or device-unlock app, if provided.
- Contact the original carrier with the phone's IMEI and ask whether the device is network unlocked.
Supporting eSIM does not automatically mean the phone is unlocked. Regional versions of the same model can also have different eSIM capabilities. Review our eSIM Compatible Phones guide as well.
If the phone is locked
Only the original carrier can approve and complete an unlock. EasyTripGo cannot remove a device carrier lock. Do not delete an installed eSIM while waiting for the carrier.
If your phone is confirmed unlocked but installation still fails, follow eSIM QR Code Not Working? Causes and Solutions or contact official@easytripgo.com.
