Taiwan eSIM Installation and Hotspot Guide

Laptop overlooking Taipei for the Taiwan eSIM hotspot and installation guide

Quick answer

Install your EasyTripGo Taiwan eSIM on stable Wi-Fi, keep the profile on the original phone, select it for mobile data and enable Data Roaming after arrival if instructed. Hotspot is supported, but every connected device shares the same fixed allowance or daily high-speed limit.

Before installation

  • Confirm the exact phone model and regional version support eSIM.
  • Make sure the phone is carrier-unlocked.
  • Connect to reliable Wi-Fi and keep the delivery email available.
  • Check the selected duration and installation deadline.
  • Do not share the QR code or install it on the wrong device.

Service days begin when installation completes. Install close enough to departure that the selected 3–30-day duration covers your final day. Turning the eSIM off does not pause the plan. Installation is normally required within 90 days of purchase; follow the exact product and delivery instructions.

Install the Taiwan eSIM

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data.
  2. Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
  3. Scan the EasyTripGo QR code and complete the prompts.
  4. Label the new line “EasyTripGo Taiwan.”

On Android

  1. Open Settings and find SIM Manager, Network & internet or Connections.
  2. Choose Add eSIM or Download a SIM.
  3. Scan the QR code and approve installation.
  4. Label the profile so it is easy to identify.

Menu names vary by phone brand and operating-system version. Do not scan repeatedly if an error appears, and do not delete the profile before contacting support.

Connect after arriving in Taiwan

  1. Turn on the EasyTripGo Taiwan line.
  2. Select it as the mobile-data SIM. On dual-SIM phones, verify that your home SIM is not still selected for data.
  3. Enable Data Roaming for the EasyTripGo line if required.
  4. Turn Wi-Fi off temporarily and test a webpage.
  5. If it does not connect, use Airplane Mode for 15–30 seconds or restart the phone.

The eSIM supports Chunghwa Telecom and Taiwan Mobile where available. Automatic network selection is normally the first choice. Manual selection can help if registration fails, but no partner is guaranteed at every location.

Use hotspot safely

Hotspot is supported. On iPhone, open Settings > Personal Hotspot. On Android, open Settings and search for Hotspot, Tethering or Mobile Hotspot. Set a strong password and turn the hotspot off when it is not needed.

Every connected laptop or tablet uses the same plan. Pause operating-system updates, cloud backup, photo synchronization and automatic video playback. With Daily Unlimited, all devices share the 1GB daily high-speed allowance; after it is used, service continues at up to 5Mbps until reset.

Troubleshooting checklist

Symptom What to check
No mobile data Correct data SIM, line enabled and Data Roaming on if instructed
Signal but no internet Airplane Mode, restart, remaining allowance and APN instructions
Cannot install Wi-Fi, eSIM compatibility, carrier lock and whether the code was already used
Hotspot device has no data Phone connection, hotspot password and remaining allowance

Never delete the eSIM as a first troubleshooting step. If fixed data is exhausted, purchase a new Taiwan eSIM plan; do not assume the installed plan can be topped up.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move the eSIM to another phone?

Do not assume it is transferable. Contact support before changing devices or deleting the profile.

Can I keep my normal SIM active?

Yes, on supported dual-SIM phones. Select EasyTripGo for mobile data and review your home carrier's roaming settings to avoid unintended charges.

Does the plan include a Taiwanese number?

No. It is data-only, but apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime and Messenger can use the internet connection.
