Flying between Australia and New Zealand changes the local mobile network, but it does not need to mean installing another eSIM. A regional plan can keep the same profile on your phone while it registers with the supported partner after arrival. A few preparations make the cross-border transition much smoother.
Before the trans-Tasman flight
Install the EasyTripGo Australia & New Zealand eSIM on stable Wi-Fi and follow the activation timing supplied with the order. Label the line “Travel” or “EasyTripGo” so it is easy to recognize. Keep the QR code and order details somewhere accessible from another device or offline folder, but never share them publicly.
Check that the validity period covers both countries. The 7, 15 or 30-day eSIM guide explains how to count travel days and estimate a suitable allowance.
Settings after landing
Turn off airplane mode, enable the regional eSIM, choose it for mobile data and switch on data roaming for that line. Leave voice and SMS on your home SIM if you still need them, but disable automatic cellular-data switching to avoid unexpected home-carrier roaming. Network registration may take several minutes.
The service uses Optus in Australia and Vodafone in New Zealand. Read the Optus and Vodafone coverage guide before remote drives or outdoor activities.
If the phone does not reconnect
Toggle airplane mode for about 30 seconds, restart the phone and verify automatic network selection. Check that the eSIM remains the selected data line. Do not delete it while troubleshooting. Downloaded profiles can be difficult or impossible to reinstall without support. Our installation and hotspot guide provides a fuller settings checklist.
Why one profile simplifies a combined trip
One profile reduces QR-code handling and avoids mid-trip purchases. It is useful for open-jaw journeys, repeat border crossings and trips combining city stops with road travel. See the complete two-country travel guide for planning from departure to return.
Keep key travel documents available offline before boarding. Download airline confirmations, hotel addresses and transport instructions while connected to airport Wi-Fi. On arrival, wait until the aircraft has parked before disabling airplane mode, then let the eSIM search automatically. If you return to the first country later, repeat the same process instead of installing another profile. The remaining allowance stays associated with the original plan and validity period. Keep the eSIM selected for mobile data and data roaming enabled throughout the next stay.
If the eSIM remains offline, email official@easytripgo.com or contact EasyTripGo on WhatsApp. Send your order number, current country, phone model and clear settings screenshots.
