Installing an eSIM does not automatically make it the active mobile-data line. Your phone must use the profile for data, allow roaming on that line and connect to a supported local network. Completing the setup on reliable Wi-Fi makes arrival easier.

Before installing the eSIM

Confirm that your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. Keep the order email open on another screen if possible, then follow the supplied installation details. Give the profile a clear name such as “EasyTripGo East Asia.” Do not delete it after installation.

The China, Japan & South Korea eSIM offers fixed-data packages from 3GB to 50GB and validity from 3 to 30 days. Choose a combination that covers the full journey.

Select the correct data SIM

Open the phone’s SIM or cellular settings, enable the travel eSIM and select it for mobile data. Turn on data roaming for the travel line. If your normal SIM remains enabled, verify that it is not still being used for data.

Start with automatic network selection. Supported partners include China Telecom and China Unicom, KDDI and SoftBank, and LG U+ and SK Telecom. Service can include 5G where supported, plus 4G and LTE.

Using a personal hotspot

If your device and plan permit tethering, open the personal hotspot menu and connect the second device with the password displayed on your phone. Hotspot traffic uses the same allowance. Video meetings, large downloads and cloud backups can consume data quickly, so monitor usage and disable automatic updates.

If the hotspot option does not appear, first confirm that mobile data works on the phone. Restart the device and check the hotspot settings again. Device software and carrier settings can influence whether tethering is available.

When sharing data, keep the phone charged and stop the hotspot when it is no longer needed.

Quick troubleshooting steps

Verify the selected data line, roaming and automatic network selection. Turn airplane mode on for 30 seconds and then off. Restart the phone if necessary and test outdoors with Wi-Fi disabled. Do not delete the eSIM while troubleshooting.
