No Add eSIM Option on Your Phone? What to Check

No Add eSIM option troubleshooting steps

If your phone does not show Add eSIM, Add mobile plan, or Download a SIM instead?, do not scan the QR code repeatedly. First confirm whether the exact device version supports eSIM.

1. Search the correct settings menu

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data → Add eSIM.
  • Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → Add eSIM.
  • Google Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Set up an eSIM.
  • Xiaomi: Settings → SIM cards & mobile networks. Availability varies by model and region.

You can also use the phone Settings search for “eSIM,” “SIM Manager,” or “Add mobile plan.”

2. Confirm the exact model and regional version

The same marketing name can have several model numbers. One regional version may support eSIM while another does not. Check the model number in Settings → About phone, then compare it with the manufacturer specifications and our eSIM Compatible Phones guide.

3. Update and restart

Install pending system updates, restart the phone, and check the menu again. On managed work phones, an administrator may restrict cellular-plan changes.

4. Check the carrier lock

A carrier restriction can hide or block eSIM setup. On iPhone, Settings → General → About should show No SIM Restrictions next to Carrier Lock. For more details, see How to Check Whether Your Phone Is Carrier Unlocked.
