In most cases, yes: your phone needs a stable internet connection to download and install an eSIM profile. A trusted Wi-Fi network is the simplest option. A personal hotspot from another device can also work.
Some newer eSIM-only iPhone models and supported regions may allow activation without Wi-Fi, but this is not available in every situation. For the most reliable installation, connect to Wi-Fi before starting.
Prepare before installing
- Connect the phone to stable Wi-Fi or a reliable hotspot.
- Charge the phone or connect it to power.
- Update the operating system if an update is available.
- Confirm that the phone supports eSIM and is carrier unlocked.
- Keep the EasyTripGo QR code or manual installation details ready.
Install the eSIM only once
Open the mobile network or cellular settings, choose Add eSIM, and scan the QR code. If you are viewing the QR code on the same phone, use the manual installation details or follow our same-phone installation guide.
Wait until the new profile appears in the SIM list. It may be labelled EasyTripGo, Travel, Secondary, SIM 2, or with the name of a partner carrier. If the profile already appears, do not scan the QR code again.
After installation
At your destination, turn on the EasyTripGo line, select it for mobile data, and enable data roaming for that eSIM. Turn off Wi-Fi briefly to test the mobile connection. Keep data roaming disabled on your primary SIM if you want to avoid home-carrier roaming charges.
If installation stops or fails
- Stay connected to Wi-Fi.
- Turn Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then turn it off.
- Restart the phone and check whether the eSIM profile is already listed.
- Save a screenshot of the exact error message.
Do not delete a profile that has already appeared. Many travel eSIM QR codes are intended for one installation only. See our eSIM activation failed guide or contact EasyTripGo Support at official@easytripgo.com or WhatsApp.
